Designing, Running, and Improving from Preparedness Exercises with Preppr
Co-hosted by Sam Mattei, CBCP, and Jason Hoss
Continuity Professionals of Ohio (CPO) is pleased to kick off the 2026 Monthly Speaker Series with a session featuring Justin Snair, Founder & CEO of PREPPR.
On Thursday, January 22 at 12:00pm ET, Justin will provide an end-to-end walkthrough of the Preppr platform, demonstrating how organizations can design, run, and improve from preparedness exercises using a connected, system-of-record approach.
The session will include live demonstrations of:
Preppr Exercise Designer – how exercises can be quickly created while remaining grounded in real organizational, operational, and threat context
Preppr Collaborate – how structured stakeholder input is gathered and synthesized before exercise design begins
Preppr Exercise (BETA) – a first external look at how Preppr supports live and virtual exercise execution, facilitation, documentation, and closing the improvement loop.
The session will also explore the broader vision for the future of preparedness exercises—moving beyond one-off tabletop events toward adaptive, accessible, repeatable, and data-driven workflows that reduce friction for already stretched teams.
This webinar is open to all professionals and is not limited to CPO members.
This session is designed for practitioners responsible for resilience, business continuity, emergency management, disaster recovery, and crisis preparedness who are seeking practical, real-world approaches to improving exercise quality and outcomes.

Human Risk - ROI at the employee level
Join us for our August virtual meeting!
We’re excited to welcome Mark Collura at Living Security for a timely session on the evolution from traditional Security Awareness Training (SAT) to a modern Human Risk Management (HRM) approach.
Legacy SAT programs often miss the mark — focusing on annual training and phishing tests while overlooking broader behavioral risks. In this session, Mark will explore how data-driven HRM strategies can surface real patterns of risky behavior, empower targeted interventions, and build a culture of accountability across the workforce.
Key takeaways include:
Why human risk isn’t evenly distributed — and who’s really driving exposure
Surprising trends in user behavior (hint: it’s not just remote workers)
How visibility gaps limit organizations that rely solely on SAT
What leading companies are doing differently to reduce insider threats and data leakage

The BIA often results in a myopic planning process where departments identify their recovery needs in a vacuum. You may already have a good understanding of the resources included in a typical BIA: such as buildings, equipment, technology, human resources, and third parties. In this session, you’ll learn a technique that helps you to identify dependencies each activity has on other department activities and verify that those activities have a recovery time objective that can meet your needs. Mapping these dependencies can have enormous benefits for your program and improve your resiliency posture.

Title: Business Resiliency BIA – Assessments that produce meaningful data
Description: In today's business landscape, it is unfortunate that Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) often become nothing more than a box to check off on a compliance checklist. Instead of being seen as a valuable opportunity to create additional value, they are approached solely to satisfy the demands of auditors and regulators. To truly unlock the potential of a Business Impact Analysis (BIA), organizations can take a different approach. By embracing standardized capability models, they can delve deeper into the intricacies of their business and gain a comprehensive understanding of the potential consequences of disruptions to specific aspects of their operations. This strategic evaluation allows for the identification of crucial areas that need protection and mitigation. Armed with this valuable insight, organizations can then develop and implement strategies aimed at minimizing the adverse effects of disruptions. By leveraging the information obtained through the BIA process, they can effectively safeguard their business operations and ensure resilience against any potential threats. By shifting the focus from compliance to value creation, organizations can transform the BIA process into a proactive and strategic tool. This approach empowers them to not only meet the expectations of auditors and regulators but also to strengthen their business and position themselves for long-term success.
Alice Kaltenmark - The Business Continuity Institute (BCI)
Session Abstract: From the beginning of IT disaster recovery, technologists have been working to protect and recover from all types of incidents that disrupt business operations. Technology is constantly changing as are the technology risks and threats. From the on-premise data center world to the digital transformation cloud world, resilience takes many different forms. In this session, we will explore what the resilience basics are and how they apply across the different operating models including the advent of cyber resilience.
Session Description: In this session, I will share the 4 basics of technical resilience and how they translate to high availability, IT disaster recovery and cyber resilience in both on-premise data centers and cloud operations. The intended audience for this session will be resilience professionals with and without technology backgrounds. I will share examples from my 40+ years’ experience in the information technology operations arena and 20+ years’ experience in business & technical resilience. Resilience requires everyone in an organization to participate in building an organization’s resilience capability. In this session, we will also cover what is required from the business and the technology teams to deliver resilient operations.
