Speaker will share his 40 years of experiences responding to natural disasters, and the failed BC plans that he encountered, both as a Utility Executive (37 years) and as an International Consultant (3 years). These experiences occurred throughout the Continental U.S. and the Caribbean. With each case study, the speaker will highlight the solution that would have made the situation a success.

Beyond the BIA: An All Hazards Approach to Modeling Business Risk

The Business Impact Analysis (BIA) is a key component of Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) planning. While valuable, the IT centric nature of most BIAs rarely account for the full scope of hazards that organizations face. In this presentation, we will discuss the use of an all hazards approach that provides BC/DR planners and business leaders with a more accurate and complete picture of their operational risk.
